With the MAF sensor in front of the TB (like on an SSRI3/RAISS-type intake), it's more easily excusable to descreen it. Ideally, you'd finish doing what GM did, and also recalibrate it. Without the screen it can run rich or lean and switch in and out all the time. so while sometimes you may make more power sometimes you can make less. WebJul 18, 2009 · MAF descreened will affect idle quality,,but at wide open throthle on a dyno the engine will suck so much air that the air will have a very uniform flow,,thats why a small gain in descreening,,,i would not descreen my MAF,if you hate MAF go speed density. From what ive heard speed density is a pain in the ass to deal with.
