WebEPA’s GreenChill is a voluntary partnership program with the goal of helping food retailers reduce refrigerant emissions by implementing lower refrigerant charge sizes, eliminating leaks, and adopting best practices in refrigerant management. Since 2010, Abt Associates has supported GreenChill through a variety of activities, including: WebIt has retrofitted 4% of its stores to medium-GWP refrigerants. Most of its distribution centers use ultra-low GWP refrigerants. Giant Eagle is an EPA GreenChill partner and reports having stationary leak detection across locations and adhering to GreenChill’s Best Practices for leak management, but it does not publicly disclose its leak rate.
